TASER Guns Increasingly the Choice for Law Enforcement

Sunday, June 9, 2013

The law enforcement community loves TASER Guns.  Why?  Simple.  They are effective at stopping most people and they don’t run the chance of actually killing someone.

Okay, let’s clarify one thing:  I did say “effective at stopping MOST people”.  We have to acknowledge that no weapon is 100% effective against 100% of the people 100% of the time.  I mean, you can use a knife on someone.  Knives can stop someone, right?  But, they can also NOT stop someone.  Even a bullet from a gun can stop someone, right?  But, we also have to acknowledge the sometimes, when shot, people are still able to go after their victim.  Its a fact.  But, more times than not,TASER Guns are highly effective at stopping most people.

And, add to this the fact that officers don’t have to worry about investigations after shooting someone with a TASER, they are much more comfortable in using this non lethal weapon to A) protect themselves; B) protect you; and, C) stop the bad guy (or girl) to get them off the street and put away.

While many police departments have carried the TASER X26 for a number of years, now, they are beginning to carry the newest model, the TASER X2.  The X2 is unique in that it can start by firing a warning spark to let someone know they’re about to get hit.  And, if needed, the TASER Gun can then fire not one, but two shots at two people and bring them down at the same time.  Or, the second shot can be used as a back up, should the officer miss the first time.  And, now, as of this month, June, 2013, the X2 Defender is being made available to the civilian market.  Check’em out and you’ll see why the law enforcement community loves to rely on their TASER Guns.

Stun Guns in America

Here is some basic info that I surmised.  This is not a scientific study, simply an estimation based on my personal knowledge:

We sell, on average, approximately 300 stun guns per month.  And, while most stun guns are probably bought online throughout America, many big box retailers, sell stun guns.  I cannot surmise the volume that these big box retailers might be selling throughout the country, but I’m sure its significant.  Back to online sale, though, while we are one of the higher volume retailers online, there are so many, easily hundreds of, if not thousands of, websites selling stun guns that the monthly numbers of units sold online has to be substantial and I’d say realistically, the monthly number would exceed 10,000/month and quite possibly, much higher.  Again, this is only for online sales.

As for Taser Guns, due to the price point of these weapons, we sell far fewer, roughly 10-20 per month.  These items are also sold by big box retailers as well as at local gun shows throughout the country, as well as, directly by Taser International.  Not including the brick and mortar retailers, nor those sold by Taser Int’l, carrying out the same numbers, I’d say, easily the number of Taser brand guns sold monthly by online retailers is well over 2-3000 units per month.  The brand recognition here is quite strong and this number is most likely double or greater than what I’m estimating.  But, also, Taser Int’l is a big online retailer of their products and I’m quite sure their numbers are significant.

My numbers also do not include any units being sold on Amazon or Ebay as I have no way of even guessing at what those volumes could be.

Since these items have been being sold for years, I’m sure there are millions of stun guns and taser guns being carried for protection in America today.

Taser Gun

I’m at my local sporting goods store the other day and I happen across their display of Taser Guns and Stun Guns.  Since I’m in the business, I wanted to see their prices.  Holy Crap they’re high!

A particular model of stun gun we sell on our site for $48, with free shipping, they’re selling for $75.  And, the M26C Taser Gun, which we sell for $430, they’ve got for $500.  I couldn’t believe it!  While it may be somewhat convenient to be able to pull into a parking lot, walk into a store and buy a taser or stun gun, it seems to me that its more convenient to sit at my desk and order one and have it shipped directly to my home.  I don’t pay sales tax and I save a ton in the process.

So, my advice today:  feel free to go out to a sporting goods or gun store and look at some product.  Check it out and see what feels right.  Then, go online and see how much money you’re gonna save by ordering the exact same model online.  You’ll be happy knowing you saved 20% or 30% in the process AND you’ll get the model that you really need or want.

Getting Close to my Stun Gun at Closing Time

Thursday, March 15, 2012
posted by SmartStun 7:42 AM

So, it was just before closing time at out brick and mortar store when a guy came in wearing a pretty heavy coat and who looked a little out of place.  Now, I try not to prejudge people, but I still have to be cautious, especially since my wife and daughter work with me.  So, I eased over to the counter area where we keep our stun gun.  I reached down and grabbed it and proceeded to head out to the sales floor.

The guy moved through different sections of the store looking at things.  And, I kept thinking to myself, “Okay, its almost 80 degrees outside and this guy is wearing a fairly heavy coat.”  It just didn’t make sense.  In an attempt to make him think I had the upper hand, I disappeared into a back store room and came out with my hand sort of tucked into the back of my pants.  You know, kind of like if I had just stuffed handgun down there.  I moved into a position where I now had him blocked.  I could tell he felt quite uneasy.

After about 30 seconds, he looked at me, smiled and said thanks and left.  That was A-Okay with me.  No trouble and now we could close.  I’m glad I didn’t have to use my stun gun, but I’m also glad knowing I had it if I needed it.  Protection these days is more and more necessary and none of us can afford to take any chances.

Stun Guns

There are a lot of different models and types of stun guns.  And, generally, I tell people to do some gut wrenching research before they just go out and buy any old weapon.  But, today, for those people who are the type to OVER analyze and never end  up making a decision, I have a different message.

Instead, I tell you to act.  If you’ve been researching and still haven’t made a decision, then I say buy something.  Order today.  Go online, google “stun guns” and buy something.  Crime is spiraling out of control and we haven’t gotten to the worst of it yet.  The worst will come when US Citizens across the country take up arms and riot in the streets.  Mark my words, it will happen.  We’re already seeing the beginnings.  Look at the national headlines on Monday morning.  Count the number of articles which talk about “flash mobs” and “groups of 14” going crazy and beating others or breaking into stores.  This is the beginning of a very dark period in this country.  You must have some form of protection.  Do not delay.

Non Lethal Weapons

Monday, July 11, 2011

With crime soaring the way that it is, we all need to be on the lookout for what’s going on around us and, quite possibly, take the step of carrying a weapon for protection.  However, many people aren’t comfortable carrying a handgun or some similar weapon.  For these folks, there are a host of non lethal weapons that are available for protection.

Some non lethal weapons are stun guns.  A lot of people like to carry them because, if they get approached by someone, they can do a quick test fire into the air and oftentimes this is enough to scare off the attacker.  Also, TASER guns are highly effective and since they are generally quite visible when being carried, they also can help prevent an attack from even happening.  Of course, there are the old stand bys of Pepper Spray and MACE spray.  And, now there are even more formulas available of these defense sprays, so there are a lot to choose from.  Also, steel batons are quite popular weapons to carry.  Of course, there are others, but these are some of the most popular.

You’re walking down the sidewalk at night.  Someone comes running up behind you and demands your wallet.  You reach into your back pocket as if you’re going to get it.  But, instead of a wallet, you pull out your TASER Gun and zap the snot out of them.  They fall to the ground and you run to safety.

Now, of course, this is all hypothetical.  But, any variation of this only starts with you having a TASER gun on you in the event of an attack. All too often I hear of people order stun guns and tasers because they’ve been a victim.  Its a shame they didn’t prepare ahead of time.  Had they been prepared with a self defense weapon, things may not have turned out the way they did for those poor folks.  So, don’t become a statistic.  Prepare for a possible attack today by doing some research into which stun gun or taser you want and go ahead and order it.  One more piece of advice:  I also hear of people being attacked while their stun gun was in their car or at home.  Don’t be one of these people.  Keep it with you.

What would you want in your hands if you were being attacked, assuming you don’t want to carry a handgun?  A can of Pepper Spray?  A baton?  How, about a TASER Gun?   More and more people are choosing the latter option.

Sales of TASER Guns are skyrocketing all across the nation.  I believe part of the reason is that crime is skyrocketing and more and more people are needing some kind of protection.  I’ve heard recently of a wheelchair bound person being beaten and having their wheelchair being taken just for kicks!  I’ve heard of the 16 year old who was waiting on his school bus when people came by and robbed him of his backpack.  Its crazy.  It seems we have lost our freakin’ minds!  But, I think another part of the reason is that taser guns and stun guns have been around for a while now, and more and more people are becoming comfortable and familiar with them.  Whatever the reason, I’m glad that people are taking up arms as they should.
