Dummy Surveillance Cameras

dummy surveillance camerasI’m  a fan of quality products that are so stupidly simply, but highly effective.  Dummy Surveillance Cameras are one such product that I hold in pretty high regards for its cost to reward ratio.  These things are affordable and highly effective.

Dummy Surveillance Cameras are fake cameras that look just like the real thing.  They look real because they’re made by the same companies who make the real cameras and they use many of the same parts.  So, you can’t tell the difference.  You can’t tell that there is no camera technology inside the casing….and neither can a criminal.  Dummy outdoor security cameras sell for $10-15 and you can find a few different models and styles to choose from.  They take minutes to install as they only require a couple of screws, then tucking in the fake cable.  You can put up six or eight of these units in a matter of minutes and for about a hundred bucks.  Now, that’s a great product.

Dummy Outdoor Security Cameras

Looking for ways to get some kind of home security but don’t have much money to spend?  Join the crowd, right?  Fortunately, Dummy Outdoor Security Cameras might just be what you need.  They’re cheap and highly effective.

Dummy outdoor security cameras look just like the real security cameras for your home.  However, the maker simply doesn’t install the actual camera equipment inside of them.  So, they look real because they’re made by the same manufacturers, but they’re much less expensive since they don’t have anything inside.  For literally ten bucks, you can buy one.  And, they only take a couple of minutes to install as you just have to drive a few screws to mount them.  Get four or five of these things and place them around your property.  For 50 bucks, you can outfit your home in such a way that any would be burglar is going to think that there has got to be a better place to rip off.  That’s what you want, right?

How Dummy’s Determine the Number of Security Cameras

dummy security camerasIts hard to go into much detail in a blog, so hopefully, this short article will be helpful.  If you’re going to install surveillance cameras or dummy security cameras at your home, this should help a little.  First, sketch a layout of your property on paper and determine what’s the best viewpoint to install cameras so not only will they get good footage, but they’ll also be visible by anyone wanting to enter your property.  This is the concept of preventing a crime, rather than just catching someone in the act.  I think I’d rather prevent a crime, rather than mess with the cleanup of one.

After you’ve done this, now, take a look at which locations really need working security cameras.  What I mean, is that you can stretch your security dollar by installing some dummy security cameras, too.  The criminal won’t know that some aren’t real.  So, maybe install four real cameras in locations where getting video footage is essential.  But, then, maybe you can install 4 fake surveillance cameras where they’re more visible than functional.  The criminal sees them and  hopefully keeps walking down the road away from your home or business.  I suggested 4 and 4 here, but perhaps the real number in your installation is more like 6 and 4, or whatever the actual number may be.  By reviewing the sketch, you should be able to get a good idea of the actual number you need.

Need Outdoor Security Cameras?

outdoor security camerasMost people talk a big talk about what they’d do if someone broke into their home and threatened their loved ones and all. And, there are many people who would follow through with those threats.  However, not everyone would and, more importantly, what if they weren’t home when someone was breaking in.  Outdoor Security Cameras might be the better choice than big talk.

I recommend every home has either real or fake outdoor security cameras on them.  Of course, real cameras are more effective in that they can actually record the activities should someone actually break in.  But, they’re more expensive and require more time and supplies to install. The fake cameras are much less expensive and quick to install, but of course cannot record video.  But, regardless of your final choice, I like them because they tell a would be burglar or vandal that “THIS HOUSE IS PROTECTED”.  And, they can’t visually tell the difference between the real cameras and the fake security cameras.  So, hopefully, they’ll just decide to move on down the road and leave it alone.  That way, no one will have to back up that big talk.

Fake Security Cameras

I love it when I come across something that is just such a great idea, I have to buy at least one for me.  And, Fake Security Cameras are just that sort of thing.  Seriously, I have some on my home, now.  Here’s why….

I bought fake security cameras for my home because they are inexpensive, easy to install, yet highly effective.  Here’s what I mean.  Fake Security Cameras or Dummy Security Cameras, which ever you want to call them, are made by the same manufacturers who make the real thing.  They merely take a real camera housing, seal it up and put on a fake cable onto the back.  Since they don’t have any electronics inside, they’re much less expensive to buy.  And, since they don’t have to be tied into a DVR or central monitoring system, all you have to do is put in a few screws and tuck the cable in.  That’s it…you’re done.  And, I assure you, if a burglar or vandal comes by, they’ll see the cameras and most likely keep moving on down the road.  Crime averted!

Got Outdoor Security Cameras?

Kinda like, Got Milk?  I know, corny.  Sorry.  Anyway, if you’ve found your way to this article, then you’re obviously looking for some type of security or surveillance equipment to protect your home or office.  And, if you’re looking for real outdoor security cameras, I’d ask you to also consider adding a few DUMMY outdoor security cameras, too.

I say this because after you buy, say a 4 camera security surveillance system, you can add a couple more dummy or Fake Surveillance Cameras to your system for just a few bucks more.  And, if a criminal or burglar happens by your place, they’ll see all the camera heads up there, not knowing that only some are real, and they’ll be much less likely to cause you any trouble.  Camera Dummies are just a great way to stretch your security budget to get full protection for your place.  They only take a few minutes to install and they look just like the fully functioning cameras.

Time for Home Surveillance Equipment

I know I don’t have to tell you how bad property crime has gotten recently.  Pick up almost any local newspaper and read the headlines.  You’re sure to see some pretty alarming stuff happening all around you all night long.  I mean, what do you think goes on outside your home at 2 a.m while you’re sleeping?  Probably more than you know.

So many people are checking into home surveillance equipment right now, just because of the rapidly increasing crime rate.  Some people are installing full blown home surveillance systems, complete with DVR’s.  Others are stretching their security budget dollars by installing fake security cameras.  Oh, they look just like the real thing, so a burlgar or vandal surely won’t be able to tell the difference.  But, they cost much much less than the real thing since they don’t have the real camera electronics on the inside.  Regardless of which route you choose to take, the time is now to protect your home as best you can.  There are many affordable, yet effective solutions available.

Outdoor Dummy Security Cameras

Do you know what Dummy Outdoor Security Cameras are?  They’re also referred to as Fakes sometimes.  Either way, they’re the same thing for home and business security.

What happens is this:  To make Dummy Outdoor Security Cameras, the same manufacturers who make the real security cameras simply turn out the housings.  These are the same housings and so they look just like the real thing.  They come with the same mounting brackets and they usually have the same cabling coming out the back.  Many models even add a flashing LED light to indicate its working!  Bottom line, these things look like a real camera!!

You may be asking, why do people use them if they don’t really work, though?  Well, even though they may not work as a recording device, they still are effective at deterring crime, which is what most people want to accomplish.  The criminal sees them on a house or business and says “hey, why would I mess with that house, when the one down the street doesn’t have a system?”  And, since the units don’t have real cameras, they’re very cost effective.  Check’em out!  You can find several models.

Dummy Outdoor Security Cameras

I love it when people call and ask what I recommend as being the best buy in security camera systems.  Almost always, without hesitation, my response to them is “dummy outdoor security cameras“.  I usually get a “Huh?”

Think about it.  Using dummy outdoor security cameras is virtually a no brainer.  Be a criminal for a minute.  You’re staking out a home to burlgarize.  You see it has two cameras on that end and one over the driveway and one over there and another over there.  Red LED lights are blinking, indicating that they’re actually “on”.  You say, “hey, I’m no dumb burglar.”  You go the next house….no cameras.

I know I said to use dummy cameras.  And, for about third of the cost of real functioning cameras, a homeowner can buy dummy cameras that even have the red LED flashing away all night.  So, again, for very cheap, you can install a real looking camera housing and not even have to run the wires all the way.  EASY!

I love it when people ask me to recommend a great, but affordable, means to make their home more secure.  Without hesitation, I tell them about using dummy outdoor security cameras.

The reason I like dummy outdoor security cameras?  Well, its a combination of a few factors.  First, they are usually built by the same manufacturers who make the real cameras.  So, they look like the real thing.  You can even get them with flashing LED lights to make them really look real.

Second, since there is no camera or related electronics on board, they’re very affordable.  Usually they cost about a third of the real thing.  Add to that the savings from not having to buy recording or monitoring equipment, which can be hundreds or thousands of dollars, and your savings are substantial.

And, the third factor is that you don’t have to buy and install all the cabling, junking up the look of your house.
