A Nanny Cam is just a Camera and DVR

Marketing is a great industry.  They get to come up with all sorts of clever names and references for things that are fairly common, just to make them sound more interesting.  Now, I don’t know if some marketing guru came up with the phrase Nanny Camera or not, but that’s just a fancy way of saying a product is a camera and dvr.

Here’s what I mean:  A Nanny Cam or Camera is an everyday product like a radio alarm clock or a boombox or a wall clock that a company has added a camera and DVR onto.  The original item (the clock or whatever) still works just like it was originally intended to, so no one will suspect the item is a fake.  But, now, it just has the ability to capture video footage of what’s going on while you’re away.  They can capture an abusive nanny (hence, the name), a cheating spouse or any number of crimes.  And, since the item is in cognito, no one will know you got the “goods” on them.
