MACE a Bear?

You think you’ve got the nerves to use Bear Mace on a bear?  I’m sure I’d freak out if I saw an attacking bear coming at me and in all honesty, I don’t know if I could stand and spray as opposed to high-tailing it outta there!  But, I know, when I hike in the nearby mountains, I HAVE TO carry a can of Bear Mace.  There is simply no option.

As we humans further encroach onto the bears’ native habitats, the bear encounters and attacks increase.  I mean, like I say, here I am hiking in their homeland.  What should I expect, right?  Well, the same goes for any of the people who bought land and built their homes in those nearby mountains.  They should expect to come across a bear or two while they’re there.  And, as others live near streams, woods, forests, etc, the bear encounters are just a given.  So, everyone in those situations needs to be prepared with some form of animal repellent.  And, equally important, they need to spray a can of it just to get the feel for how far it’ll spray so they’ll feel more comfortable.  Even though, I have done this practice spray, I have to say, it’ll be tough to stand and look at an oncoming bear.
