Stay Safe at University

Monday, February 28, 2011

Leaving home for the first time to live at a college or university is a daunting task. Being in an unfamiliar environment can make you vulnerable to muggers. This vulnerability is increased if your university is located in or near a major city. Even small schools that are deemed safe have incidents.

One of the best ways for you and your fellow freshmen to protect yourselves is to carry personal alarms. Obviously, it’s not ideal to walk around by yourself late at night, but sometimes it’s inevitable. Maybe you were studying at the library late at night or are traveling back to your dorm from a friend’s place across campus. No matter the circumstance, a personal alarm can really save you in case of an attack.

Hidden Spy Cam

Wanna know what’s happening in your home when you’re not there?  Wanna know if your spouse is cheating on you?  Or if your kids are stealing or doing drugs?  Wanna know if the babysitter or nanny is mistreating your children?  Or, do you own a business and need to know if an employee is stealing from you or doing something else weird in your office?

Well, a hidden spy cam may be just what you need.  These are also called hidden nanny cams or nanny camera, but they’re all the same thing.  Usually, an everyday household or office item is outfitted with a camera and DVR and the item is placed in the area where the owner thinks something fishy is going on.  Since it’s an everyday item, the suspect never thinks twice about the item.  But, to their detriment and to the owner’s benefit, the hidden camera captures the needed video footage.  BUSTED!

Do you Carry Personal Security Alarms?

Monday, February 28, 2011

A lot of people talk really big when they talk about being approached by an attacker or mugger.  But, let’s face it, many people know they couldn’t even pull the trigger on a self defense weapon if they were face to face with an attacker.  These people should consider personal security alarms, for their own protection.

Personal Security Alarms are good for those people who doubt they’ll be able to “to pull the trigger”.  If a person with a personal security alarm is approached by an unscrupulous person demanding their purse or wallet, the alarm can be set off to draw attention to the situation.  Even if no one is nearby, the attacker will probably just freak out and run away, anyway, becuase they have no idea if someone else is around or not.  And, they surely don’t want to stand around to find out.

Alarms can be gotten with varying degrees of loudness measured in decibels.  I don’t think anyone should get one less than 120db as anything less than this is just a little too quiet for my own taste.  A good 130db is more to my liking!

So, you Wanna Buy Pepper Spray

Smart Move.  No, seriously, crime is horrible and is getting worse each day.  The government keeps telling us the economic recovery, while not yet full on, is coming along nicely and things are improving.  I don’t know what world they’re living in.  In mine, people need to buy pepper spray, stun guns, TASERs and whatever else they feel comfortable with carrying to protect themselves.

Whether you buy pepper spray, stun guns or any other self defense weapon, just be sure to keep it with you.  All too often I hear of people who were victimized in some way, but their weapon was “in the car” or “at home” or some other place that did them absolutely no good.  Thieves, attackers and muggers are more prevalent these days as they’re hungrier than ever and need money…..Yours!  Don’t just give it to them by not protecting yourself and your loved ones the way you know you need to be.

Sizing Up Home Surveillance Systems

Saturday, February 26, 2011

Personal and Property Crime continues to skyrocket.  The government was forecasting a drop in crime once the economic recovery got underway, but the problem is that even though they say the recovery has begun, it hasn’t.  All the statistics and reports show that their numbers are a farce.

And, because of this people are still out of work and turning to crime to put food on the table and pay the bills.  Its not right, I admit.  But, to some degree its a little understandable.  To protect your home and your loved ones, you may be sizing up home surveillance systems.  And, you can’t go wrong if you pick one of the packages or kits that have been put together.  They include virutally everything you need to keep a watchful eye on your home and protect your family.  Even just installing fake cameras outside can help prevent a home invasion or vandalism.  Do your homework and you’re sure to find something suitable to protect your home.

A Big Can of Bear Mace

Saturday, February 26, 2011

The article had the headline of:  “Another Bear Encounter”.  Fortunately, itdidn’t say there was an actual Bear Attack.  But, in reading the article, there certainly could have been.  Fortunately, the person involved had what was described as a “Big Can of Bear Mace“.  I bet they’re glad they didn’t have some wimpy little container.

In summary, the article said these hikers were out and happened upon a bear.  The bear immediately began approaching them even though they made loud noises and threw sticks and such.  The bear was within 20 feet when it began to growl and show teeth.  One of the hikers laid into their can of bear spray, emptying the “big can of bear mace” on the bear.  Before it was empty, one hiker was already running away.  Once the can was fully empty, the other hiker took off, never looking back.  They have no idea the full effect of the Bear Mace onto the attacking bear…..and they “don’t really care”.

Where to Find TASERS for Sale

Crime continues to skyrocket all across the nation.  Now, riots in Egypt and other parts of the world are threatening to spread elsewhere, including right here in the United States.  And, because of the crime and rioting, people are anxiously searching for places to find TASERS for Sale.

You can find TASERS for sale in many places.  Of course, the internet is laden with sites that carry TASERS, Stun Guns, Pepper Spray and much more.  But, if you want to put your hands on the actual unit before you buy it, many Pawn Shops and Gun Stores in cities and towns across the country are  beginning to carry TASERS for Sale, too.  Most websites, though, will offer a full refund and money back guarantee along with Free Shipping should you buy a unit and just not feel comfortable with it.

Regardless of where you buy your self defense weapon, you probably should consider buying it soon.  And, buy something for your loved ones, too.

Setting Up a Nanny Camera

Friday, February 25, 2011
posted by SmartStun 2:42 PM

Assuming you’ve already purchased your nanny camera and are now ready to set it up, here’s a little bit of information that hopefully, you’ll find helpful.

Once you take your nanny camera out of the packaging, you’ll want to give some good thought as to exactly where to place it.  But, before you can really do this, you need to set it up and get a test recording of the general area.  I say this because you’ll need to ensure that the lens setting is not too close and is not too far out.  So, do your test run so you can sort of gauge how close or how far from an exact point you want to position the nanny camera.

Once you’ve done this, review the footage and note the wideness of the view.  Then, place the camera in the exact space you think want it.  Again, do a test recording and ensure that you’re getting exactly the recording you want.  Once you have got it properly positioned, set it and walk away.  After the nanny or potentially cheating spouse leaves, review the footage and find out specifically what took place.

The Popular TASER C2

Friday, February 25, 2011

TASER is well known for making some of the best self defense weapons on the market today.  And, one of their models is the TASER C2.

The TASER C2 was designed for those people who want and need the best protection available, but don’t want to carry a huge gun looking device like the bigger TASER models.  So, the TASER C2 fits nicely into the hand of the user and is available in several colors to make it seem a little more “friendly” and not so overwhelming to its user.

And, now, TASER has begun offering the C2 in packages which I think are very cool.  Previously, when you bought your TASER, you really didn’t have any way to test it or practice with it without having to buy more stuff.  Well, the TASER Gold Package and the TASER Platinum Package answer this need by providing extra cartridges and even a test target to shoot at.  If you’re wanting the best in self defense weapons but don’t want a huge thing to carry around, check out the C2 today!

MACE a Bear?

Friday, February 25, 2011
posted by SmartStun 12:50 PM

If you came face to face with a full grown, hungry and angry bear, well, letsjust say any full grown bear, do you think you’d have the nerve to spray Bear MACE onto them?

Well, hopefully, you’ll never have to find out.  However, if you come face to face with a bear, but don’t have any bear mace on hand, not only will you not know the answer to the above question, but you also might just be dead.  Bear encounters and bear attacks continue to increase in frequency each year as mankind continues to encroach upon bears’ native habitat.  What would you expect?

If you live near mountains, woods, rivers, lakes or streams that are known for having any bears in the area, you better be prepared with some bear mace on hand.  If you don’t need it, great.  But, if you do need it an don’t have it, well that hungry bear may not be so hungry real soon.
