Fight Residential Burglary with Hidden Camera System

Saturday, October 30, 2010

In 2007, burglary cost victims more than $4.3 Billion in estimated losses and residential burglaries accounted for more than 67% of all burglaries.  What is a homeowner to do?  Consider, perhaps, a Hidden Camera System.

One approach to help combat residential burglaries is to install a hidden camera system.  Depending on how its installed and used, a homeowner may prevent a break-in.  Even if the break-in is not prevented, a hidden camera system can either help catch the burglar during the act or perhaps help catch them after the fact.

Hidden Camera Systems come in all types, shapes and sizes and can be configured to accomplish pretty much anything a homeowner wants.  For instance, one recent burglary caused a homeowner to receive an email with a link embedded into it from their hidden camera system.  Upon clicking the link, the homeowner was able to see that two people were in her home.  She called 911 and within minutes, the two were arrested still in her home.

Its Not the Stun Gun, Its the Person

Saturday, October 30, 2010

I’m reading more and more articles where stun guns are being blamed for their misuse. But, just like with guns, its not the instrument, its the person behind the instrument.
From the 10 year old girl who was tased by her parents, to the man who was robbed at “Stun-Gun-Point”, its the people using these instruments who are the problem and not the stun gun.  Bad people will find something to use.  Take away stun guns and they’ll use regular guns or something else.
So, please, if you’re considering a stun gun purchase, do not hold off on buying due to fear that stun guns or TASERs are being used for bad things.  For those concerned with a stun gun being removed from the user’s hands and being used by the attacker, we carry several models with pin disable.  If used properly, the stun gun will be rendered useless if the unit is taken from the original user.

Prepared With a Cell Phone Stun Gun

In today’s world it never hurts to be prepared, right? One easy way when you feel you might be in danger is to get out your cell phone stun gun so you will be ready if the worst happens. As a nonlethal weapon it is one of choice for those who have to walk alone especially during the dark hours of the evening.

With 800,000 volts (and up to 4.5 million volts) of pure power you can be sure to knock out the toughest of would be perpetrators. This usually comes with an extra shock since your weapon of self defense is disguised like a ninja as an everyday phone. With an invention like these  stun guns there is no reason to feel secure any longer.

Who Needs Home Surveillance Systems

Friday, October 29, 2010
posted by SmartStun 4:36 PM

Home Surveillance Systems are expensive and are only for big mega-mansions, right?  Wrong….

Today, technology is relatively cheap.  I mean, lets face it, the computing power in the average cell phone completely blows away what we were using as home PC’s 10 years ago.  So, is it possible for the average homeowner to use this affordable technology to protect their home?  Absolutely!

Today, home surveillance systems can be found online for prices starting around $5-600 for a nice system, which might include 4 cameras, a quality digital video recorder and all necessary cabling.  Usually, these dvr’s can be connected to a network or to a computer to allow for further streaming or data manipulation.

Let’s face it, times are tough and crime is increasing.  Protect what’s yours!

IP Security Camera

posted by SmartStun 2:30 PM

There are a number of ways people can keep an eye on things while they’re away from home.  However, increasingly people are using an IP Security Camera to watch their home while they’re at work or wherever.

An IP security camera allows the user to quickly and easily connect the camera to their computer.  The camera can either be a wireless version or wired version.  The wireless version transmits the video signal from the camera to a receiver placed near the computer, which is then plugged into the computer.  The wired version transmits the video signals directly to the computer through wires (which can be a little unsightly and more obvious).  The camera then streams the live video signal over the internet and the user can log in at work or some place and monitor the goings on.

Depending upon the sophistication of the particular model used, the camera can either be “always on” or it can send an email with a link to the user’s email address alerting them that motion has been detected and to monitor the video which begins streaming upon the motion detection.

The quick and easy set up, along with the simplicity of operation of these cameras, make them a wonderful choice for almost anyone wanting to monitor their home.

A lot of people use the word TASER Gun synonomously with Stun Guns.  And, for good reason.  However, I think its important to point out that TASER is a brand of electronic stun devices and really should not be used in the general sense.

For instance, the TASER line of guns, like the TASER C2, does not require direct contact between the user and an attacker.  Instead, the C2 shoots electrode projectiles up to 15′ away to the target.  These electrodes then transfer 50,000 volts of stun power into the attacker.  The energy can penetrate up to 2″ of protective clothing.

By contrast, a traditional stun gun requires the user to make direct contact between the stun gun and the attacker.  Obviously, one must be much closer than 15′ to accomplish this.  So, the TASER offers the advantage of distance.  There are many other features that sets the TASER apart from other stun guns.  But, I think the distance factor is huge and thus, the word TASER should only be used to refer to a projectile type stun device.

Stun Master Releases 4 New Models – III

Today, we’ll take a look at the Stun Master Flex 800,000 Volt Telescopic Stun Baton800,000 Volt Telescopic Stun Baton

The STUN MASTER TELESCOPIC STUN BATON has three ways to protect you: a Light, a loud 120db Alarm and 800,000 volts of stun gun stopping power. It’s rechargeable so you never have to buy batteries. It’s 21.5 inches long when fully extended, and only 13 inches when collapsed. The full length of the metal part is electrified. If the attacker tries to grab the Telescopic Stun Baton from you, he will be shocked. A push of the trigger immediately expands the Telescopic Stun Baton and starts shocking. Just push it on the end to collapse. Very easy to do. Don’t worry about being shocked should the attacker be touching you. Won’t happen! The current will not pass to you. But, it will shock through a 1/2 inch of clothing.

Stun Master backs the unit with a Lifetime Warranty.  It also comes with a holster and a plug in charger.

A TASER Gun to a Pepper Spray Gun

Wednesday, October 27, 2010
posted by SmartStun 2:20 PM

This day and age, almost everyone should have some sort of non lethal weapon on them at any given time.  I mean, whether its a TASER Gun, a MACE Pepper Spray Gun or some other self defense weapon, something should be nearby.

A lot of people find the MACE Pepper Spray Gun very convenient and effective.  People feel confident being able to hold something that is shaped like a gun, so this is a natural choice for the “hold”.  Its look is much more intimidating than a typical keychain pepper spray.  And, most importantly, it can shoot MACE Pepper Spray up to 25′ onto an attacker.

A lot of people also like the trigger activated LED light which allows for a better aim.  Couple this fact with the fact that it holds 7 discharges and you’ll know that you’ve got a pretty decent level of protection.
